Designing Welfare for Inclusive Growth

Project DEEP hosted a conversation on “Designing Welfare for Inclusive Growth: The Role of Direct Cash Transfers in India.” The discussion explored the growing role of cash transfers in India’s welfare architecture, emerging evidence from research and pilots, and what thoughtful policy design could mean for resilience, agency, and opportunity. The session featured Dr. Nachiket Mor, Atul Satija (The/Nudge Institute), and Pankhuri Shah (Project DEEP), who reflected on questions of social impact, poverty, inequality, fiscal sustainability, and what an ideal welfare portfolio could look like as India continues its development journey.
