Recess

What if we could learn to do impact work better without talking about impact at all? That was the idea behind “Recess” on August 29th, a day of games hosted by Raju Madhavan for people working across the impact and development space. What started as a room full of people who may not have known each other quickly became something much more: a space to experiment with connection, perspective, collaboration and strategy. Through a series of challenges, we explored what it really takes to work together: starting with genuine connection rather than transactional networking, piecing together a shared story from completely different perspectives, and strategizing as teams with limited resources and a ticking clock. What looked like simple games quickly became lessons in curiosity, perspective, collaboration and alignment. Somewhere between the conversations, the chaos and the gold hunt, a room full of professionals became a little more of a community.
